Abstract

Malaysia faces new challenges in acquiring the highest degree in skills development among students as a preparation for the new generation that has excellent soft skills for leading the society. Malaysian graduates now lack in both technical know-how and generic skills. The graduates failed to get jobs because of the lack of soft skills such as problem-solving skills, communication skills, and creativity skills. A quasi-experimental method used to explore the effectiveness of Project-based learning (PBL) in developing students’ problem-solving skills through the use of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). The Quasi-experimental method was used within a focus group only, which includes pre and post-tests, interview sessions, and observation. The respondents of the research were semester one students taking Study Skills subject (MPU2223). The paired sample t-test indicated that the respondent had achieved better skills, which is a problem-solving skill after the implementation of PBL through MOOC. It also supported by the result of the interview session and observation procedure.
